I keep getting surprised by the width and depth of Republican corruption. I get that from how they’re trying to justify looking at some of these things; they’re completely righteous. But there is that little thing about believability that just is not cutting the mustard.
Someone leaked an email that Ginni Thomas wrote thanking a prominent somebody for being against Supreme Court Justices having to live under a code of ethics. I know. It’s really hard to believe that Ginni would be against such a thing. However, according to right-wing dogma, Clarence should have his bitch on a leash. (If I don’t have that quote exactly right, please forgive me.) If he has her on a leash, then why is she emailing confessions of her desires? Those emails pretty much tell anyone who can read the only possible reasons for her desire. She doesn’t want the spigot to go dry. She likes yacht life and mountain retreat life and being able to do favors for family members. Nothing wrong with any of that. Anyone would do it if they had the chance. Don’t be jealous.
Then there’s the whole brand new indictment of Russian-connected someones’ who have been spreading money around so U.S. political internet influencers would spread around Russian messaging about the U.S. election. So here we go again with Russia, Russia, Russia. Why do you think Putin wants Trump to win? Certainly not so they can do more business, don’t be silly. I wonder who would pay for their business, anyway? Certainly not Ukraine because neither Vladimir nor Donny have anything against anyone in Ukraine, do they?
And last but certainly not least is that whole stupid fiasco at Arlington. Every now and then, there are moments in time which are captured on film that define an event and sometimes an epoch. The picture of Donny standing on the grave of a soldier who gave his life for the country Donny is denigrating, giving a thumbs up while wearing that shit-eating grin, is as defining a picture as that one of Dukakis driving a tank. That one ended his presidential hopes. I can certainly see how that picture would make one hell of an ad for the opposition. Just that pic with the caption.

I can see where any one of these issues could end a presidential run in its tracks. But that’s not all Donny is carrying. He is a convicted felon, days away from sentencing. He is about to go on trial for the whole Jan 6 chit-show. And that thing in Florida is not going to stay thrown out, either. Judge Cannon can pretty much throw out her hopes for that Supreme Court nod. That’s something that can stay thrown out.
Really guys, I’m sorry, but I don’t see anything here that I can’t live without. There are things on the Republican to-do list that I just do not have time for. But you can bet they’re going to try their best to make Republican mountains-out-of-immigration-molehills and vote count molehills and RINO molehills. Guys, we’ve all been there, and we’ve all done that. Let’s get a new game. This one is boring.
