Friday’s Fascinations
Welcome to my daily political musings. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy!
I always thought it wasn’t okay to yell fire in a crowded theater. People could get hurt running over each other to get out of a perfectly fine building. I don’t think this is a matter of free speech but rather a matter of common sense.
I think it’s everyone’s right to yell fire if they want to. But I also think it’s everyone’s right to be considerate and enjoy the movie. I don’t think anyone should have to enforce either right.
In some ways, Donny and JD’s claims that Haitians are eating cats demonstrate a lack of common sense and is actually that dire for the Haitian immigrants. That part is true. However, it could be that Donny and JD have an actual message, but they are not communicating what that message is. Maybe they think they’re yelling fire because the Mayor of New York paid off the fire inspector.
You never know.
There is another side to what seems to be pure goofiness from those two. Not that I think they were acting on this information, but according to Rep. Tony Gonzales, a Republican from Texas, ICE knows the whereabouts of 662,566 “non-citizens” with criminal convictions. More than 13,000 are convicted of homicide. The numbers are pretty astounding.
Trump and JD did not know about these numbers, it appears, before today. Get ready for the GOP jungle to erupt in a cacophony of jeering “I told you so’s” in an attempt to drown out the coming volcanic explosion that will be the public release of Jack Smith’s evidence he has had to present to the judge in the January 6th related federal case against Trump. The Supreme Court ordered the judge to review the evidence so she knows if she can prosecute Trump or not. Smart money says she can and will.
Both sides will be yelling bloody murder about their respective gotchas, that’s a lock. It will be an international spectacle. Trump will make sure of that. Joe f’d up with that one. He thought with his heart and not with his head. But then, there really are not enough amnesty judges to control the flow into the country. Amnesty cases take years just to get on the docket.
It might be hard for Trump or JD to claim that their hands are clean when there was a bill on the house floor to address the actual bottleneck that allows those hundreds of thousands of criminals to walk the streets. To give an idea, US immigration amnesty judges have more than 2,000,000 backlogged cases. It isn’t hard to imagine how a quarter of those cases could very easily represent a criminal element.
Because of the numbers, it kind of looks like the immigration card could very well backfire on the GOP hopefuls. Even so, Ms. K got some ‘splain’n to do.
